Let us dive right in.

The Mangle is one of the 10 antagonists in Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

He is a modernised version of Foxy the Pirate Fox (Foxy), looking more clown-like for child-friendliness, though his appearance as of 1987 is mangled and mutilated due to overexcited toddlers ripping him apart, meaning the staff would have to re-assemble him after every shift. Eventually, they gave up and left him as a "take-apart-and-put-back-together" attraction.

In the game, Mangle clambers across the ceiling for most of the game, with the exception of his presence in the Right Air Vent and Kid's Corner, when he is on the floor. He is a contorted mess of parts that gives a feeling of sheer creepiness when he is visible. The fact that he crawls along the ceiling is obviously not a mode of hiding, as he is clearly visible. It is possible that he is trying to stay out of the reach of toddlers, perhaps because he is scared of them for damaging him.

Whenever the player is looking into a camera looking into a room he is in, radio interference can be heard for reasons unknown. This also indicates the state of his audio box, which is presumably also damaged. Curiously, there is human dialogue in the interference, why is unknown as none of the other animatronics (excluding Balloon Boy) produce human language. This also helps the player detect him hiding in the Right Air Vent's blind spot.

Looking close at his mask, you can see that he in fact has two endoskeletons, or at least two heads. The most peculiar thing about this is that the two heads have one eye each, with the one inside the mask having the right eye, and the one outside having the left eye. This may be down to spare parts being left out for the kids to add to his original build, or Mangle stealing spare parts to attempt to fix himself.

Looking at Mangle's snout, it seems that there is lipstick haphazardly dotted on his mouth, giving the illusion of Mangle being female. I narrow this to toddlers or slightly older kids applying lipstick to either make fun of him or to give him a friendlier look.

I referred to Mangle as a "he" before. This is a contested opinion. Many believe he (I am going to call Mangle "he") is a male due to Foxy being a male, but others state he is female for appearing in the Custom Night's Challenge "Ladies' Night," in which both Chica models are set to 20, Mangle is set to 5 and the others are disabled. This implies he is a female, but it is also indicated that Scott may have added him to the mode just to balance it out.

Credit to "SchwarzeWolf12" for alerting me to the fact that Mangle's second head may have been some kind of puppet or parrot. My opinion stands balanced on this, as an endoskeletal head seems to large for a puppet and Mangle isn't technically a pirate, as there are barely any indications as what exactly he's supposed to be. However, "cove" implies a pirate-esque environment and his predecessor IS a pirate.

Some believe the second head was a parrot or puppet.
